lullaby project.
A songwriting partnership between pregnant people, new parents, and Palaver musicians. Every family leaves with a professionally recorded original lullaby for their child.
about the program
Lullaby Project, initiated by Carnegie Hall, brings pregnant people and new parents together with professional musicians to write original lullabies for their children. The project unfolds in three stages: reflection and brainstorming, songwriting, and recording. Working with professional songwriters and sound engineers, all participants record and perform their songs.
We work closely with each family to write songs that resonate with their cultural backgrounds and musical tastes. Past participants have written lullabies in French, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, and English. Since 2019, we have partnered with The Opportunity Alliance in Portland to recruit project participants.
As families complete the project, we invite them to continue their musical journey through Early Childhood Music classes and string instrument lessons at the PMC.
