guest artist positions.
Palaver Strings welcomes applications from violin, viola, cello, and bass candidates who share our commitment to collaboration, community, and adventurous programming.
about guest artist positions
While the ensemble is based in Portland, many of our musicians commute — and we've welcomed Guest Artists from Boston, New York, North Carolina, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and beyond. Palaver produces several concert programs per season, each with multiple performances throughout New England.
In addition to the regular concert season, Palaver's engagements often include summer tours and weeklong residencies. Guest Artists are contracted on a per-project basis as the need arises.
Who we’re looking for: Palaver Strings is particularly interested in hiring African-American, Latinx, and/or Indigenous musicians. We seek Guest Artists with a high level of musicianship who also value collaboration, communication, adventurous programming, cross-genre collaborations, and using music to amplify underrepresented voices.
how to apply
To apply for the Guest Artist list, please submit the following materials. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
We receive a large volume of material and will let you know within 2–6 weeks whether we’ve added you to our Guest Artist list. We look forward to hearing from you.
